Part of this scene burst into flames as I was painting it. I think the flames were under control, but I was a bit surprised when it suddenly happened. Add that to the list of strange things that can happen when you're painting.

These tall trees are quite distinctive. Lined up on the beach, as they are here, they create an interesting rhythm of light and shadows in the setting sun.
